Prop Store Catalog Now Available & Live Bidding Open for Their Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction on September 26th
This week I received the amazing print catalog for Prop Store’s fourth annual Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, and the catalog is also now available online as well. It will be held at the London ODEON BFI IMAX on September 26th. The live event features more than 600 lots of props, costumes and other film and television memorabilia. There will be a free three week public exhibition at The BFI IMAX Waterloo from September 7th – 26th.

With Profiles in History doing fewer and fewer (and bigger and bigger) Hollywood auctions – relative to past years – it was a big question within the market as to how well this massive three-day sale would do. With nearly 2,000 lots, some with estimates exceeding $1M, it was a tremendous amount of high end material for this market to absorb over the course of a few days. eBay Alert: Star Trek Original Series Tricorder Prop… Buy A Replica for $8,500?
As I’ve mentioned many, many times, there are always countless fake/replica/reproduction props and costumes listed on eBay as “authentic” and “genuine” and used on this or that television show or in a certain movie. So even if I took it upon myself to make note of these as a full-time job, I could never cover everything. But it is particularly irksome when someone contacts me directly to help authenticate a prop or collection – which I did for free – only to see it show up on eBay a few days after informing him it is a replica, being offered as “an original” and “not a reproduction prop” and “the real thing and very valuable”… I informed him that my expert’s opinion was that the piece was “a replica” and explained why and that these pieces were of little value. ScreenUsed is holding their next quarterly live auction on Saturday, December 10th. The company will with this auction begin to host their events on their own website (rather than third-party services like LiveAuctioneers and iCollector). Additionally, back in September they began to host “Timed Daily Auctions”, with 15 new items every weekday.
