Superman, Batman, The Avengers Invade American Cities with On Location Filming (Plano, IL – Pittsburgh, PA – Cleveland, OH)

Over the past few months, the Internet has been buzzing about on location filming for some of the upcoming blockbuster superhero-genre movies (in 2012 and 2013), with on location filming in American cities.  As such, all manner of photos and videos have been shared online, offering glimpses into both “first look” images of costumes and sets, as well as a look into the film making process itself.  The second successive Superman reboot (now with Zack Snyder directing), Man of Steel, has been shooting in Plano, IL, the third of the Chris Nolan Batman films, The Dark Knight Rises, has been filming in Pittsburgh, PA, and Marvel Comics’ launch of The Avengers franchise team movie helmmed by Joss Whedon has set up location shooting in Cleveland, OH. ‘Smallville’ TV Prop, Wardrobe, Set Decoration Liquidation Sale at Maynards in British Columbia

Maynards in British Columbia, Canada is holding a three day liquidation sale of original material from Smallville at two locations – one offering set decorations and props while the other is selling wardrobe and costume pieces.  The sale is April 28-30th.  The CW show is ending the series next month, after 10 years of production. As reported over recent weeks, Antique Helper offered a collection of mostly Superman-related costumes and memorabilia yesterday, the descriptions of which included caveats and disclaimers as to provenance and authenticity.  Generally, the auction results for the costumes highlighted in the prior articles were lackluster, in terms of comparable confirmed authentic examples of the same style and type of wardrobe pieces. Superman Costume Collection Pulled From Upcoming ‘Morphy Auctions’ Sale Event

Earlier this month, Morphy Auctions listed a large collection of more than a dozen Superman-related principal costume and wardrobe pieces in their online catalog for their late February 2010 sale event.  As was the case with an unrelated auction last year (see Philip Weiss Auctions Cancels “Special Superhero Weekend”), it would appear that all items have been pulled from their upcoming sale.
