Prop Store Officially Announces Their First “Live Auction of Film & Television Artefacts”; To Take Place at Vue Westfield in London on October 16th

After 16 years in the business of selling original TV and movie props, costumes, and other Hollywood memorabilia, Prop Store will be holding it’s first live auction on October 16th, at Vue Westfield in London following a two week exhibition at Vue’s flagship cinema in Westfield, London.  With 375 items set to hit the auction block, highlights include material from some of the top sci-fi and action film franchises including James Bond, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Terminator, Batman, and more.  Prop Store has made the hardcover catalog available for pre-order on their site today. As per usual, Prop Store and staff from the London and Los Angeles offices have brought an assortment of impressive original TV and movie props and costumes to Comic Con International: San Diego this year, with highlights including the original motion tracker from Aliens and the flame thrower from Alien, as well as a bullwhip used by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. San Diego Comic Con 2012: Prop Store Original TV and Movie Props and Costumes on Display

2012 is Prop Store’s fifth year exhibiting at Comic Con in San Diego, and they continue to improve on their visually pleasing presentation and wide ranging original props and costumes on display.  This year, the centerpiece holding the front corner spot is John Hurt’s spacesuit from Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979).  Again, the booth features both items from their private collection as well as material for sale (the latter at a variety of price points). San Diego Comic Con 2011: Event Recap, Impressions, Experiences

As has been tradition with coverage by the Original Prop Blog (2010, 2009, 2008), I thought I would share my overall impressions of Comic Con in San Diego this year.  As always, it was an incredible event, though if I came away with one overall thought, it would be looking to the future and how the convention will continue to evolve over the coming years.  More than ever, this year it seemed to come off the rails a bit more (in both good and bad ways) and the big question that remains outstanding is if San Diego can continue to both accommodate and manage the incredible attraction as it remains the “all things to all people” global pop culture celebration phenomenon.
