Star Wars Celebration Preview: Original Movie Props, Costumes, & Artwork Discussion Panels and Events

Star Wars Celebration, the world’s only official Star Wars convention, is coming to Anaheim, California from April 16th to 19th. It is anticipated that 150,000 fans will be in attendance, which rivals San Diego Comic Con numbers. With much to see and do and a focus on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, there is still quite a bit to look forward to for those focused on original props and costumes. Premiere Props ‘Hollywood Extravaganza XVII’ Auction Catalog Online, Television & Movie Prop and Costume Sale Event March 28th

Premiere Props have listed their next auction with online bidding partners iCollector, LiveAuctioneers, and Invaluable as part of their “Hollywood Extravaganza XVII”. The one-day auction is scheduled for March 28th with nearly 1,000 lots. As with past auctions, the sale includes a mix of original props, costumes, and other film and television artifacts, as well as general Hollywood Memorabilia and a lot of replicas/reproductions/toys. The auction catalog is now available online via a PDF download on their official website and collectors can bid on iCollector. Featuring an assortment of original props, costumes, and other production material and memorabilia from film and television, this auction includes 475 lots. Highlights include Dr. Egon Spengler’s Ghostbusters Uniform, a “Daffy” Gremlin Puppet from Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Katniss’ Arena Costume from Hunger Games, Indiana Jones’ Suit from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, a Rebel Soldier Ceremonial Jacket from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, and more. Today’s broadcast of CBS’ Sunday Morning program (see “Movie memorabilia: The stuff that dreams are made of” online for print version) discusses the preservation of pop culture artifacts from film and television and features interviews with James Comisar of the Comisar Collection (interviewed here in 2011), Laura Wooley of The Collector’s Lab (interviewed here in 2011 as well), and Debbie Reynolds, as well as the topic of public museums being developed (the AMAPAS Hollywood History Museum and James Comisar’s Museum of Television) as well as similar efforts since abandoned (Debbie Reynolds’ Hollywood Motion Picture and Television Museum). Original Prop Blog’s Jason DeBord Part of Star Wars Prop Collecting Feature in The Telegraph
