2011 marks Prop Store’s third year as an exhibitor at Comic Con in San Diego, and as has been the case in the past, they have brought an assortment of props and costumes from an assortment of film and television programs. As part of their t-shirt promotion this year, they have billed their experience “Comic Khan”, which is emblazoned across the shirts and the Khan costume from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is in the coveted display case spot at the corner of their exhibit. England Journal: Day Two. This was a very busy day. Mario, Oz and I took the train to Prop Store, which was a first visit for me. While the weather was not terribly bad at our arrival, it soon began snowing and actually made a sharp turn for the worst. Star Wars Celebration V Highlights – Lucasfilm Reveals Return of the Jedi “Cave” Lightsaber Construction Scene; Prop Store Exhibit
Star Wars Celebration V, the “official Lucasfilm event celebrating all things Star Wars, produced by fans for fans” has been in full swing this week. While not personally in attendance, I thought I would publish a report on highlights of interest to original prop collectors, notably Lucasfilm announcing the release of the all six Star Wars films on Blu-Ray disc next year (per an interview with the New York Times), which will include never before seen footage, including a scene with Luke finishing the construction of his lightsaber in a cave on Tatooine from Return of the Jedi. The existence of such a scene has long been a matter of debate among Star Wars fans. [Read more…]
