I’ve offered to help in efforts to find original material (props, costumes, set pieces, other production assets) from the American sitcom “F Troop”, which originally aired in the U.S. from late 1965 through early 1967. “AVATAR: The Exhibition” at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle June 4th-September 3rd
The Experience Music Project has organized an exhibition called “AVATR: The Exhibition”, which will be held at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle from June 4th through September 3rd. Per the official site, this was created with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, and “will feature authentic props and costumes, interactive displays, concept models, and sketches from the blockbuster film”. Today a company called inQuicity, owned and operated by another company called Double-Take Tours, launched their “nationwide SAVE-THE-DRESS campaign to acquire the coveted white dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in ‘The Seven Year Itch'”. One of the highlights offered at auction by Profiles in History in their Debbie Reynolds auction next month, the company has launched a website to solicit funds/donations from the public to bid on the dress at auction so that the NYC-based inQuicity can showcase the dress in a “multi-city nationwide tour” and later place it “on permanent display in New York”. Should the company be outbid at public auction, the firm states that it will not return the contributions made by the public, as doing so would be “impractical”. [Read more…]

The Louisiana Art & Science Museum will be exhibiting their “CUT! Costume and the Cinema” attraction from May 7th through July 3st. There will be more than 40 costumes on display, featuring wardrobe worn by stars such as Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, and others. [Read more…]
Cinémathèque Française Hosts Exhibition on Stanley Kubrick Through July 31st, Features Original Movie Props and Costumes
Yesterday the Cinémathèque Française in France began their incredible Stanley Kubrick exhibition, which includes the display of original props, costumes, and production material from his classic films. The attraction will run through the end of July. The traveling exhibition has previously been presented in various cities since 2004, including Berlin, Zurich, Gand, Rome and Melbourn. [Read more…]

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) will be presenting their “19th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” annual costume exhibit, featuring more than 100 original costumes from more than 20 films released in 2010, including pieces from Shutter Island designed by Sandy Powell, Alice in Wonderland by designer Colleen Atwood, and The Wolfman by designer Milena Canonero.
