Collector/Investor Files Fraud Lawsuit Against John LeBold and Americana Dance Theatre Over Elizabeth Taylor “Cleopatra” Dress and Other Hollywood Movie Costumes

Per Courthouse News Service, Richard Abrahamson (a former owner of Toon Art) has filed a lawsuit against John LeBold and Americana Dance Theatre, Inc. over the sale of a number of wardrobe pieces attributed to use in various Hollywood films.  The complaint was filed in the Hamilton County Courthouse in Cincinnati, Ohio last week, and “Abrahamson seeks $90,000 for breach of contract and fraud, and punitive damages“, per the CNS report.  One of the pieces purchased by Abrahamson (via Toon Art) from LeBold in 1999 was Elizabeth Taylor’s costume from Cleopatra (1963), which Abrahamson recently attempted to resell through Profiles in History.  The report claims, “[u]pon publication of the [auction] catalogue [sic], the owner of the authentic ‘Cleopatra’ dress contacted Profiles in History to notify them of the fraudulent representation in their catalog“. Last Day To Bid On “As You Wish Helmet Project” Charity Auction Featuring Reimagined ‘Star Wars’ Movie Prop Helmets, Benefiting Make-A-Wish

There is about one day left of bidding on the amazing, one-of-a-kind custom and “reimagined” Star Wars Boba Fett and Episode II Clone Trooper helmets made by some of the most talented artisans in the industry.  The proceeds from the sale of these special helmets will benefit Make-A-Wish, and as of the time of this writing, the bids already exceed over $100,000.  These helmets were on display at Star Wars Celebration last week. Movie Prop Thief Caught On Tape UPDATE – Police Seek Help Finding Erick Duane Johnson

Law enforcement is seeking help finding a suspect in Portland, Oregon who they believe stole movie prop guns that were on display at Movie Madness (a Winchester rifle used by John Wayne in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) and a shotgun used by William Holden in The Wild Bunch (1969)).  As reported last week, the theft was captured on video tape.  Based on tips from the public, the police detectives are asking for the public’s help finding Erick Duanne Johnson, 47. The Harry Crocker Museum: The First Movie Prop Museum? Any Records, Information, or Photos? Whereabouts of Classic Hollywood Artifacts?

I came across a post on NitrateVille.com asking about The Harry Crocker Museum – described as “The First Museum Dedicated To Famous Movie Props” – and I’d never heard of it.  Other than an issue of Photoplay dated December 1928, I could have no record of its very existence.  I would be curious if anyone has any additional information about this museum, or if any of the material on display or referenced in the article still exists.
