eBay Auction: “Jurassic Park Cryocan SCREEN-USED PROP Original COA” for $5,000 is “NOT A REPLICA” [UPDATE: Shades of Land Shark?]
This is an update to the article published about 24 hours ago (see “eBay Auction: “Jurassic Park Cryocan SCREEN-USED PROP Original COA” for $5,000 is “NOT A REPLICA”“), in which an eBay dealer, ridaeb, offered for public sale a “Jurassic Park Cryocan SCREEN-USED PROP Original” for $5,000… using the same photo of a prop that is clearly identified as a fan made replica/reproduction on another site, YourProps. Well, the auction was canceled/withdrawn (as well as all evidence of it, apart from my archive in the prior article). Then, earlier today, it was relisted at the same price, with the same description, with another photo taken from YourProps. That was canceled/withdrawn… and it appears yet again with a third photo from the website Jurassic Park Terror – and the photo depicts… another Rylo-made replica prop. [Read more…]
eBay Auction: “Jurassic Park Cryocan SCREEN-USED PROP Original COA” for $5,000 is “NOT A REPLICA”
A friend of mine last night pointed me to an eBay auction, that is much like many of listings in the “Entertainment Memorabilia > Movie Memorabilia > Props > Originals” category on eBay… it features claims of an original prop, and absolutely nothing is done to demonstrate it as such and validate the marketing claims. In addition with this one – a “Jurassic Park Cryocan SCREEN-USED PROP Original”, offered for sale by ridaeb, this “original” prop offered for sale to the public for $5,000… uses the same photo of a prop that is clearly identified as a fan made replica/reproduction on another site (and the eBay version of the photo has the watermark seen on YourProps cropped out). Prop Store Offers For Sale Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe) Hero Invisibility Cloak Movie Prop
Today, Prop Store listed an interesting item from the popular Harry Potter series of films, the main character’s “hero invisibility cloak”. It seems to be a rare piece from the movies, but having never personally seen any of the movies myself, or handled the wardrobe piece first hand, I cannot verify the claims that it can be screen-matched to the same piece as seen (or not seen?) in the series. It is also not clear from the description what would distinguish this item, attributed as the hero piece, from any of the stunt versions of the cloaks. [Read more…]

‘Comic Book Men’ AMC TV Series Features Laughable Star Wars Luke Skywalker Lightsaber Movie Prop Authentication & Valuation
Filmmaker Kevin Smith’s new television series on AMC, Comic Book Men, recently featured in its second episode (“Life After Clerks”) an individual bringing a prop into the comic book store, claiming it was an original lightsaber used in Star Wars: A New Hope. The shop brought in a third party “expert” to authenticate and value the piece, though no information was provided as to who the authenticator was, or what his qualifications were in being cited as an expert. Having reviewed the segment, in my personal opinion and subjective reaction, the entire affair was quite laughable, from the positive authentication to the assessed value of $7,000 for an original Luke Skywalker lightsaber from The Empire Strikes Back.
