Rob Zombie Crowdfunding Campaign Offering Movie Props from “Halloween 2” & “Lords of Salem” Ending May 10th

Heavy metal rock star and filmmaker Rob Zombie is offering fans a chance to bid on original movie props and costumes from his films, including Halloween 2 and Lords of Salem. There is a minimum bid of only $300 on each lot. In addition to authentic movie memorabilia are other opportunities, such as meet and greets during his upcoming tour and autographs. The crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to end on May 10th at midnight. Proceeds will go toward funding his next film, 31. [Read more…]

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2015: Prop Store Exhibitor Booth

Prop Store’s exhibitor booth (#1140) for Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim in 2015 is both familiar and different. While the size and scale is comparable to what I’ve seen at San Diego Comic Con over the past five years, obviously with Celebration it is going to be 100% Star Wars-related content. With this show, they brought out some of the important pieces from the Prop Store Collection (i.e. owned by the principals of the company and not for sale), including a Darth Vader helmet, Han Solo jacket, and a Princess Leia gown. Star Wars Celebration Preview: Original Movie Props, Costumes, & Artwork Discussion Panels and Events

Star Wars Celebration, the world’s only official Star Wars convention, is coming to Anaheim, California from April 16th to 19th. It is anticipated that 150,000 fans will be in attendance, which rivals San Diego Comic Con numbers. With much to see and do and a focus on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, there is still quite a bit to look forward to for those focused on original props and costumes. Today’s broadcast of CBS’ Sunday Morning program (see “Movie memorabilia: The stuff that dreams are made of” online for print version) discusses the preservation of pop culture artifacts from film and television and features interviews with James Comisar of the Comisar Collection (interviewed here in 2011), Laura Wooley of The Collector’s Lab (interviewed here in 2011 as well), and Debbie Reynolds, as well as the topic of public museums being developed (the AMAPAS Hollywood History Museum and James Comisar’s Museum of Television) as well as similar efforts since abandoned (Debbie Reynolds’ Hollywood Motion Picture and Television Museum).
