San Diego Comic-Con 2014: Game of Thrones Exhibit “Survive The Realm” (#SDCC)

The Game of Thrones “Survive the Realm” interactive experience and exhibit was held across from the Omni Hotel in the Gaslamp District during Comic-Con this week, and featured a number of original costumes from the popular HBO cable television series based on the George R.R. Martin novels. Also featured were green screen opportunities to have animated photos taken with one of the dragons (Drogon) was well (see mine here) as a “Climbing the Wall” virtual reality experience and a photo op chance to sit in the Iron Throne. For the true fan, there were also professional tattoo artists on site giving GOT-inspired tattoos. [Read more…]

San Diego Comic-Con 2014: DC Entertainment’s 75th Anniversary of Batman Props and Costumes at Exhibitor Booth (#SDCC)

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2014. As has been the case for several years, DC Entertainment has put together an amazing collection of original props and costumes within their exhibitor space at Comic-Con, and this one might be the best yet, with costumes and props from all of the various Batman films, all to celebrate 75 years of the Caped Crusader. San Diego Comic-Con 2014: Prop Store Exhibitor Booth (#SDCC)

This is part of my ongoing coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2014. This is most definitely the most important Comic-Con appearance for Prop Store since their first exhibit back in 2008. They have managed to get a sizable upgrade in space from The Powers That Be at Comic-Con for 2014, and they have put all of that additional square footage to brilliant use, with a more open design and really elegant work in displaying their rare props and costumes with beautiful lighting. With the added visibility, Prop Store is using the opportunity to get the word out about their first live auction even later this year, to be held in London in October.

Prop Store Officially Announces Their First “Live Auction of Film & Television Artefacts”; To Take Place at Vue Westfield in London on October 16th

After 16 years in the business of selling original TV and movie props, costumes, and other Hollywood memorabilia, Prop Store will be holding it’s first live auction on October 16th, at Vue Westfield in London following a two week exhibition at Vue’s flagship cinema in Westfield, London. With 375 items set to hit the auction block, highlights include material from some of the top sci-fi and action film franchises including James Bond, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Terminator, Batman, and more. Profiles in History ‘Debbie Reynolds – The Auction Finale′ Catalog Available Online for Sale Event May 17-18

Profiles in History will be holding the third and last auction of Debbie Reynolds consigned material as part of their “Debbie Reynolds – The Auction Finale” sale running May 17th and 18th. Today they made the catalog available to order (hardcopy) as well as online in PDF and flipbook format via their official site. This sale is scheduled to be held at the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio in North Hollywood. This auction features 897 lots including promotional material, classic Hollywood wardrobe, props, set pieces, production material, vintage motion picture cameras, and other important film artifacts.

“Bond in Motion” 007 James Bond Movie Prop Car Exhibition at the London Film Museum at Covent Garden

I am in London currently, and had an opportunity to drop by the fantastic new “Bond in Motion” exhibit at London Film Museum in Covent Garden. The brilliant exhibition features cars used in James Bond films over the past 50 years, as well as some key movie props and costumes from the 007 franchise. I’ve always been a huge fan of London Film Museum and their mission, and as always they have put together a great collection of film memorabilia in a classy and artful way – they are really the best in the business when it comes to displaying pop culture artifacts. Julien’s Auctions has published the online catalog for their upcoming sale – “Hollywood Legends: Featuring Property from the Career of David Hasselhoff” – which will be held at their Beverly Hills gallery on April 11th and 12th. The auction will feature property from the career of David Hasselhoff, the estates of Jonathan Winters and Greta Garbo, and consignments with proceeds marked for a variety of charitable causes as featured in the new unscripted Lifetime series, Celebrity Home Raiders.
