HollywoodPatch today published a report that Erik Anderson filed a lawsuit against Profiles in History, Joe Maddalena, and producers Shevick*Zupon Entertainment and Zupon Entertainment over the idea for their SyFy television series, Hollywood Treasure. Per their article, Mr. Anderson claims to have pitched Mr. Maddalena the idea for a show with the same concept, which he called Hollywood Forgotten, in October 2009, and he also published four episodes of his show on YouTube. Heritage Auction Galleries is holding a special charity auction, which benefits the St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters. The “Doodle for Hunger” is an online-only auction of simply illustrations made by a variety of celebrities, including principals from film, television, professional sports, members of the media, journalists, political figures, scientists, chefs, talk show hosts, authors, musicians, comedians, and other famous people. Charles “Chuck” Palahniuk, journalist and Fight Club novelist, has donated one of the original “ying yang” table set pieces that was used and featured in David Fincher’s film version of his award-winning book. The auction for the table started on eBay today, with proceeds benefiting The Pixie Project, a non-profit organization in Portland, Oregon that provides animal adoption and other related services. Dan Levin from Premiere Props appeared on Access Hollywood today to talk about this weekend’s Hollywood Auction Extravaganza V sale event. Items discussed in the segment include pieces attributed to Madonna, Liberace, and Michael Jackson. Strangely, not only do the hosts/talent handle the auction items, one is “almost” sold during the segment, and many of the wardrobe pieces are worn by the hosts as well as they close out the episode.
Swann Galleries will be holding a two-part auction of the “Property from the Estate of Fillmaker Gary Winick” and “19th and 20th Century Photographs and Photobooks” on April 4th in New York. Gary Winick, a director and producer, tragically died after a struggle with brain cancer and complications that followed. He passed at the age of 49 about a year ago. [Read more…]
Mark Short published an interesting article on his “Propstop” blog last night concerning the March 10th ‘Hollywood Movie Costume Live Auction’ held by Premiere Props. While I had already reported on some confusing elements of the sale leading up to it (see “‘Hollywood Movie Costume Live Auction’, Confusion Regarding Material Offered at Auction” and “Premiere Props Adds Some “Hollywood” to their ‘Hollywood Movie Costume Live Auction’”), what Mark observed during the live auction and uncovered in his subsequent research looking at this week’s subsequent Premiere Props sale raises new questions about some of the few “Hollywood” lots from Mirror Mirror (2012) that comprised the now concluded “Hollywood” auction, with one piece sold therein earlier this month described as “the one and only” and the same piece being added to this weekend’s upcoming auction catalog. Darren Julien, CEO of Julien’s Auctions, made an appearance on CNN this morning (about the same time Martin Nolan was featured and a guest of the Today Show talking about Marilyn Monroe) to discuss some of the Whitney Houston dresses and wardrobe that will be offered at auction at the end of the month.
