The Heritage Auction Galleries has published on their latest online catalog and listings for their upcoming event, “Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Signature Auction – Dallas #7082”, to be held on December 6th at their Dallas, Texas location. As per usual, the bulk of the 1,988 items skews toward vintage/classic Hollywood stars and a good deal of personally owned items/estate items, prominently featuring Farrah Fawcett, as well as iconic music rock and roll items. Bonhams will be holding a special event next month, “What Dreams Are Made Of: A Century of Movie Magic at Auction as Curated by Turner Classic Movies” (auction 21427). The live auction will be held in New York (and simulcast in Los Angeles) on November 25th. Put together in conjunction with Turner Classic Movies, it “will feature over 300 of the finest and most important pieces of movie memorabilia ever to come up for auction“. [Read more…]
Troika Brodsky, special guest. This is the eighteenth ‘Prop Talk’ podcast by the Original Prop Blog. Troika Brodsky is a hobbyist who has, over the past ten years or so, amassed the largest personal collection of Lord of the Rings props, costumes, and other material from the film trilogy. The collection will be auctioned by Julien’s Auctions (see official site) on December 5th as their “Trilogy Collection: Props & Costumes from Middle-Earth” auction event. The collection will also be part of a public exhibition at Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons (MOSI) in Kildare, Ireland from October 23rd to November 17th.

The New York Daily News lead mainstream media reports yesterday about “disgraced sports memorabilia kingpin” Bill Mastro of Masto Auctions plead guilty to mail fraud and admitted to trimming/altering a high value trading card to increase it’s value. Mastro will be sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Ronald A. Guzman, and faces up to five years in prison. [Read more…]
