This is the first in a new series of videos that I will be publishing on YouTube, to supplement the ongoing content on the Original Prop Blog. I have in the past published the occasional video on YouTube, but I saw the platform more as a place to host videos rather than as a “channel” per se, so mixed among content intended for the Original Prop Blog were other videos that had nothing to do with the Original Prop Blog. So this is a brand new channel going forward, and my hope and intentions are to use the video format more regularly in order to produce some different content than what has been the norm. Prop Store’s “Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction” Catalog Available, Sale on September 20th
The fifth “Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction” annual sale event for Prop Store will be held at London’s BFI IMAX on September 20th, offering over 600 lots of entertainment memorabilia. Both the print and online catalogs are available, and Prop Store continues to assemble more and more impressive offerings, year after year. Sotheby’s “Creating a Stage: The Collection of Marsha and Robin Williams” Auction on October 4th
The catalog for Sotheby’s “Creating a Stage: The Collection of Marsha and Robin Williams” auction is now online, featuring over 300 items from his lift and career, and time with his second wife, Marsha Williams. In addition to entertainment memorabilia is art (particularly a lot of street art), decorative art, furniture, watches and more. A portion of the proceeds is intended to benefit Human Rights Watch, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Challenged Athletes Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and Wounded Warrior Project, as well as to help fund a scholarship at The Juilliard School in New York. An exhibit in Los Angeles is running through September 14th with a follow up in New York from September 29th through October 3rd. The auction will take place in New York on October 4th. [Read more…]

ScreenUsed’s Hollywood Memorabilia Auction on August 25th; Catalog Online
ScreenUsed is holding their next live auction on Saturday, August 25th. The company has their own branded iCollector-type website for online bidding as well as bidding on iCollector.com. With well over 200 lots, as per tradition much of them have reasonable starting bids and no reserve.

So I’ve been attending San Diego Comic Con since 1987 (when I was 14 years old), so I have a lot of history with the world’s most famous annual pop culture gathering. Some years are better than others, though for several years running it has, from a subjective standpoint, felt like it was overall in decline (weighing the positives and negatives).
