I’ve offered to help in efforts to find original material (props, costumes, set pieces, other production assets) from the American sitcom “F Troop”, which originally aired in the U.S. from late 1965 through early 1967. There is hope that material can be found and loaned to be part of an upcoming museum exhibition which will run for approximately two years. [Read more…]
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences are holding a special exhibit called, “Crew Call 2011: Celebrating the Crafts”, which features in studio and on set photos taken by members of The Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers. On June 17th, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held a special event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark. They premiered a new digital restoration of the film, and also held a discussion panel with principal members of the crew that made the movie. [Read more…]
The Experience Music Project has organized an exhibition called “AVATR: The Exhibition”, which will be held at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle from June 4th through September 3rd. Per the official site, this was created with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, and “will feature authentic props and costumes, interactive displays, concept models, and sketches from the blockbuster film”. As reported in 2009, Disney held their first D23 Expo (see “D23 Expo” at Anaheim Convention Center in September 2009 to Feature “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives”). This year will mark the second such event, at the same facility though, per a press release, it will be twice the size. A highlight for the show will be the return of the “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives”, boasting “80 years of Disney history”. The event is scheduled to run August 19-21. [Read more…]
The Louisiana Art & Science Museum will be exhibiting their “CUT! Costume and the Cinema” attraction from May 7th through July 3st. There will be more than 40 costumes on display, featuring wardrobe worn by stars such as Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, and others. [Read more…]
The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will be presenting another series of concert performances featuring music from the Lord of the Rings trilogy of films.
