Twentieth Century Fox is doing something novel, and giving away key props and costumes from a popular television series, rather than auctioning them off. How I Met Your Mother , the popular CBS sitcom, ended it’s nine season run earlier this year, and now fans have a chance to win free props from the show for free via a special Tumblr page called the “Prop-erty Vault”. Massive Ongoing Dexter TV Prop Auction Features Hundreds of Lots from the Showtime Cable Series
This might be one of the worst publicized auctions in some time, since it has been going on since November and I didn’t hear of it until I came across an article on Collider tonight. The most recognizable prop from Dexter, Showtime’s hit cable television series that is coming to an end with the current Season 8, is Dexter Morgan’s boat, “Slice of Life”. The original, fully-functional boat used throughout all eight seasons of the series by Michael C. Hall is coming up for public auction, set to begin with the airing of the final episode. The Gilt Group has again opened a unique sale of original props for charity, this time offering material from Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, which opens in theaters in the United States tomorrow. Per the website retailer, “Lee is donating the proceeds from the props to Orangutan Foundation International (orangutan.org), after having an inspiring experience when he visited the facility while doing research for the movie”.
