Mike Filonczuk today announced the closure of his business, Hollywood Parts, and his new venture with industry heavyweight Profiles History: Hollywood P.R.I.M.E. (Production Resources International Management for Entertainment). While details are sparse and the former company’s website is now gone, based on their own description, it looks like the event auction house is looking to move into territory and business models more akin to competitors like VIP Fan Auctions and Premiere Props (while Premiere Props has become more Profiles in History-like with their off-eBay event auctions with consignor material in recent years). It will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the coming years, assuming Hollywood P.R.I.M.E. has more longevity than other efforts to branch out by both auction houses (such as the Hollywood Treasure cable television series, authentication efforts launched by Profiles years ago with the Dracula poster debacle, and Premiere Props and their own Movie Props DNA quietly launched and quickly abandoned last year).
Below is the announcement I received from Mike Filonczuk this morning:
I’m proud to announce, with the official closure of Hollywood PARTS comes my latest venture Hollywood PRIME (Production Resources International Management for Entertainment), a new division of Profiles in History, the industry’s leader in auction sales of high-end hero props and wardrobe.
We’ll be operating from a new location and showroom in Calabasas, CA with expanded opportunities and resources to provide our clients with the same high level quality of service.
We can now generate the best return for productions on the entire range of film and entertainment assets while still providing the public access to both high dollar hero items and affordable pieces that even the smallest collector can still covet.
Many new items will be added to our EBay store at great clearance prices beginning March 31, 2014!
I’m looking forward to continuing our working relationship together with Hollywood PRIME.
-Mike Filonczuk
There is not much info on the official Profiles in History website at this time, about what it all means, apart from a listing of keywords that gives a hint as to the new business that they are trying to solicit and cultivate:
Profiles in History is excited to announce the creation of our new subsidiary:
Hollywood Prime – an international full service production asset management company. Hollywood Prime’s services will include transportation, storage and sales of film and television assets, including costumes, props, set decoration and vehicles. This new company will provide productions and studios with the highest sales returns on their full range of assets, including high-end hero props and wardrobe as well as background and surplus assets.
