Swann Galleries will be holding a two-part auction of the “Property from the Estate of Fillmaker Gary Winick” and “19th and 20th Century Photographs and Photobooks” on April 4th in New York. Gary Winick, a director and producer, tragically died after a struggle with brain cancer and complications that followed. He passed at the age of 49 about a year ago.
Winick was a co-founder of the New York independent production company InDigEnt and was an award-winning producer, writer, and director who worked in film and television. His last film as director was Letters to Juliet (2010) and he also helmed Bride Wars (2009), Charlotte’s Web (2006) and Tadpole (2000), among others.
In reviewing the auction, in addition to being a very active filmmaker, it is obvious that Winick was an avid collector of impressive fine art, photographs, movie posters, books, and memorabilia such as props, storyboards, production designs, and other ephemera.
ArtDaily published an excellent overview of the sale, which can be found at www.artdaily.org.
Online as well as “3D” auction catalogs and further details can be found at the Swann Galleries website, www.swanngalleries.com:
