Beginning today, the Original Prop Blog, LLC is announcing a program offering potential advertising opportunities for select companies to place paid display advertisements on the Original Prop Blog website.
Since launching in April 2007, the Original Prop Blog has been a public, free, and interactive resource. Being public, free, and interactive are the cornerstones of the website, and this will never change.
Until today, the website has also been advertising-free (for nearly four and a half years), which is quite rare for any popular website.
I am personally very particular about online advertising in general, and as a user of other many many other websites, I have been turned off by some of what I experience on those other sites (pop up ads, pop behind ads, autoplaying sound, things moving across your screen, etc.). As a user, I do not appreciate advertisements that detract and distract from user experience in finding, accessing, and reading/viewing content.
Publishing content for this website, hosting it, and managing it’s affairs as a business as the Original Prop Blog, LLC has been costly over the years. I have always felt that it would be of benefit to at some point develop an advertising program to generate revenue to offset at least a portion of these costs. If successful long term, at some point select paid advertising could also potentially provide additional resources with which to bring more valuable and compelling content to the Original Prop Blog, to the benefit of the readers/users of the site.
With this, today begins a new chapter for the site, with display advertisements. Any advertisements placed by companies from within this field will not in any way influence the Original Prop Blog and its news and/or opinion product. Companies that advertise with the Original Prop Blog website are formally contracted directly with the Original Prop Blog, LLC, at a fixed cost based on a variety of factors including the term of the agreement as well as the size, placement, and rotations of the display advertisements, as agreed upon by those parties.
I would like to thank the first three companies that have contracted with the Original Prop Blog, LLC as its first advertisers:
