Aaron, a collector who I’ve been acquainted with, has launched a new website which highlights historical auction results and photos, along with other features.
The site can be found at www.PropArchives.com:
Below is a message from Aaron, the owner of the site:
I have been a prop collector for about 12 years now and felt there was a need to archive props and costumes in a hope to help the hobby. I think that this would be good to give collectors like myself a way to check back on a particular prop or movie costume. We have an ever growing database, a fully searchable electronic archive of some of the biggest auction house sales from around the world. An invaluable resource for collectors with lot descriptions, estimates, prices realized and photos. We currently have around 3,500 props, costumes and production material listed in the archive and we are constantly adding more each week to make this the #1 resource for prop collectors.
There is also a social network aspect to the site under “My Prop Archives” a “facebook” for original prop collectors. Here collectors can share their movie prop photos and prop videos. Create their own profile page, meet other collectors start their own “groups” or even use the “events” function to throw prop parties or exhibitions. We are also constantly working on this to improve and add more fun features. We have some big plans with competitions, “show off” type galleries and fun voting scripts to be added soon also.
So anybody is free to join whether you collect original movie props or just have a interest in them… We are open to ideas if anybody wants to have a feature added or just has a suggestion, please drop us a line. We hope that proparchives.com will be a great benefit to movie prop collectors, auction houses and prop dealers all over the world.
