Elemental LLC has announced that they will be selling and auctioning off original props formerly owned by Hollywood special effects designer Steve Johnson. Johnson is renowned for his work on films such as Ghostbusters, Big Trouble in Little China, Poltergeist 2, Nightmare on Elm Street IV, Bicentennial Man, Star Trek Nemesis, and Spider-Man 2, among others.
As reported last year, Johnson launched his own YouTube channel last year (see “Award Winning Special Effects & Make-Up Artist Steve Johnson Launches YouTube Channel With Tremendous Promise”).
Elemental, LLC describes itself as follows on the official website:
Elemental, LLC is the exclusive owner of the Steve Johnson and XFX/Edge FX collection. This web site and the individual sales are run by a third party company, Almost Dark Productions, which has no ownership in the collection.
The company has contacted me to relay the announcement of their efforts with this message:
Elemental LLC Auctions has just opened it’s website beginning the sale of the Steve Johnson XFX Archive. The current and future eBay auctions and Direct Sales feature items spanning the lifetime career of Steve Johnson himself, as well as his studio XFX/Edge FX. These include 10,000 pieces of original production artwork, 150,000 production photos, and 1000 original props. The website and sales, maintained by Almost Dark Productions, is officially open for sales this month, and will begin the first auctions this Sunday, June 6th. ADP is working directly with the owners of the archive to make the Elemental LLC Auctions available to anyone who wants a piece of film and television history.
According to the website, eBay auctions will begin on June 6, 2010.
Some items are currently listed on the site for direct sales.
