According to their own “media alert” (see IMPORTANT ALERT: Iron Man Auction Update!), Propworx has delayed the auction of the last 25% of the lots of props and costumes from their Iron Man sale yesterday. Per an on site report by the Motion Picture Prop Company, the Internet service provided to the convention center went out, which stalled the auction at lot 163 of 219. Propworx has announced that the remaining lots will be auctioned online on Sunday, April 25th, one week later.
Below is the “Media Alert” published by Propworx, in its entirety:
MEDIA ALERT
Propworx/Iron Man Prop and Costume Auction Totals Skyrocket
57 items still to be auctioned Sunday April 25th
Chicago – April 18, 2010 – Iron Man fans at C2E2 in Chicago and online worldwide participated in a day that saw bidding on the iconic props from the movie reach amazing heights. Bidding was intense and ended after a short delay at item 163 due to an internet failure at the convention center. Due to time constraints, Propworx will auction the remaining 57 items online on Sunday, April 25. Please stay tuned to Propworx.com for an announcement Tuesday, April 18 confirming time and details.
The auction saw bidding skyrocket: the Mark III Helmet sold for $13,200, the huge Iron Monger at $19,200 and the Hero Mark I RT Unit and Mark II RT Unit, selling for just over $10,000 each. Hundreds of fans bid live and online through Liveauctioneers.com. More details on the auction and a full recap will be posted at www.propworx.com.
Among those lots not passed due to the technical issue halting the auction prematurely, two broke five figures (pre-buyer’s premium), some sold in the thousands, and many sold in the hundreds (quite a few below the low estimates). Full results can be found at LiveAuctioneers.com.
