I had an opportunity to tune into the latest iCollector original movie prop and costume live auction (see Premiere Props “Fangoria Presents A Horror Movie Prop And Costume Auction” Live Event October 24th) for a few minutes yesterday, and the streaming video feature appears to be much improved, as implemented by Premiere Props.
Regular readers may remember my highly unfavorable review of the feature as employed by Premiere Props back in February:
At that time, the video and audio quality were both terrible, and the production was amateurish, especially in comparison to the Battlestar Galactica auctions held by PropWorx and excellent Auction Network service months earlier.
However, in viewing the service online with Premiere Props auction yesterday, both have come a long way in the past several months.
The quality of the video was much improved, and per a source, Premiere has hired a production company to assist with the presentation and feed, which definitely shows.
In addition to higher quality video, multiple cameras were used as well as a host to compliment the auctioneer, and images of the pieces up for auction were intercut as well.
While the tone and content of the presentation does not fit my tastes at all, it was much more professionally put together.
One problem I did experience was some audio drop out and glitchiness, but again, the product and presentation is much, much improved.
The other recommended area of improvement for iCollector would be an integration of the video feed and bidding interface.
Below are a few sample screen captures of the video feed from yesterday’s auction event (click images for full resolution):
Interestingly, the auction presentation displayed a website URL that is new to me – www.hollywoodliveauctions.com.
