Collector Mario Kirner of www.FridayThe13thProps.de has sent me some information about the Friday the 13th franchise Official 30th Anniversary Reunion event that may be of interest to hobbyists.
In addition to the participation of principals from the films, Mario’s collection of original props and wardrobe from the Friday the 13th films will be on display to the public in Dallas, Texas. Given that Mario lives in Germany, it is a great opportunity for collectors in the United States to check out his collection.
The event celebrating the 30th year of Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th history is about a year away – August 13-15, 2010 – at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
Full details can be found at www.FridayThe30th.com:
In addition to featuring actors, writers, FX professionals, directors, and more from the Friday the 13th films, there will be an exhibition of Mario’s entire Friday the 13th collection:
The promoters of this event also managed the FEAR FEST conventions:
“The last 3 Fear Fest shows combined have sold over 10,000 tickets, and sold out 9 hotels. Typically, our shows are themed with a reunion of sorts as we did with Fear Fest 2 – the largest Nightmare on Elm St. reunion in history. The show featured over 60 guests from all 7 films and was a huge success. We do this namely because we are fans of the genre ourselves, and with the 30th anniversary of Friday the 13th coming for 2010, it only made sense to make this our next event.
This convention is unique, in that there happens to be a lake next to where the hotel is located. That means in addition to the usual convention activities, there will also be nearby on-site “camp”-related activities for fans who attend, such as canoeing, archery, swimming, and even a paint ball crew to re-create the mayhem from Jason Lives: Friday the 13th part 6. Since we plan to include cast and crew from every Friday movie ever made, this looks to be the Friday extravaganza every Voorhees fan has waited 30 years for.
