The latest web site traffic statistics for Original Prop Blog, as of May 31, 2009…
As noted last month, in addition to changing web hosts mid-month, I also upgraded the statistics/traffic tracking software. Also, I have since implemented a built-in caching system to help the site manage large traffic spikes. The two changes may have had an impact on tracking “Page View” statistics, as the numbers for this past month are down substantially (though raw “Requests/Hits” continue to rise).
Two new statistical tracking elements are added this month, and will be included in reports going forward – “Visits” and “Unique Visitors”.
As an overview for all of these aspects that are being tracked each month, the following can serve as a guide:
- Requests/Hits: Every element on every page (i.e. each photo or graphic) is counted as a server “request” or “hit” (so visiting the main portal may result in 20-30 “hits”)
- Page Views: Every visit to a unique page – the main page, a static page, or any article – should return a “Page View” result of one per page (though, as noted, this may now be under reported due to caching and different tracking software)
- Visits: “Visits” are the number of times one user browses the site, and visits one or more pages.
- Unique Visitors: “Unique Visitors” are the number of uniquely identifiable users that visited the site. Since this is the first month of reporting this feature, it will only be reflective of May 2009, not historically.
