If you’re a movie buff or looking for a Halloween costume, there is a must-see sale underway at a warehouse called Momentum Design.
It is run by award winning costume designer, Wendy Partridge.
For the first time, Partridge is opening her warehouse to the public to sell some unique items she will never use again.
The 10-thousand square foot warehouse has as many as a million costume pieces from movies shot all around the world.
You could pick up a piece worn by Annette Bening, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner or even Sidney Poitier.
Some of the more distinctive pieces are only available for bid on eBay.
Some are showing up to buy, but many, like Eldon Ohlinger, are just taking advantage of the opportunity to see the collection.
“I’m just looking around. Our daughter and son-in-law came here and they bought a few Indian artifacts. They asked us to come along, and we came along. There are some interesting items here.”
Janice Clark was in awe of what she saw at the warehouse on Saturday.
“I think it’s really cool to see that movies, international movie stuff, was made here in Alberta and here in Canada and we can actually touch and see and feel it.”
The sale runs until Friday, October 31st.
Momentum Design is located at 15 Commercial Drive, which is across the street from Calaway Park

For Calgary designer it’s time to clear out Hellboy, Passchendaele costumes

Sat. Oct 18 – 4:46 AMCALGARY – It could be a Happy Hollywood Halloween this year for Calgary costume buffs.
A renowned Calgary costume designer who caters to Hollywood’s biggest stars is rolling out the red carpet for dress-up fanatics looking for threads immortalized on celluloid.
Some are going for online auction, such as the original demonic get-up donned by Ron Perlman in Hellboy and the original half-blood vampire costume worn by Wesley Snipes in Blade II.
Thirty years of creating and collecting have led to too much clutter, said wardrobe diva Wendy Partridge of Momentum Design.
“We need to make a little bit of room here,” said Partridge.
“Some of the speciality pieces are too identifiable to ever be used again in a film so we thought we’d open up for Halloween – we’ve never done this before.”
Some of her favourite pieces – such as a Metis-style embroidered moose hide coat fitted for Sidney Poitier in the 1995 flick Children of the Dust – will never be sold.
But others, such as a costume worn by the late Christopher Reeves in the Black Fox TV trilogy will be on the block, said Faye Partridge, Wendy’s daughter.
“It was the last film he did before he had his accident,” said the younger Partridge.
The wardrobe up for rent or sale has been worn by stars such as Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall and Samuel L. Jackson.
Bidding on the Hellboy costume starts at $4,000.
Up for grabs from a local production that left Partridge “gobsmacked” are an army of military uniforms she created for the made-in-Calgary First World War epic Passchendaele.
But their original on-screen wearers get preferential treatment, said Wendy Partridge.
“The soldiers get first crack at them,” she said.
It appears the the eBay account offering some of these costumes for sale is “wickedwardrobewitch“.
