There is a nice little video on BBC News providing good coverage of the props and costumes on display at the Royal Armouries (see “The Wonderful World of Weta” Exhibition in UK).
The video report and interview with the museum’s curator can be found on the BBC website (LINK):
Simon Lee of Die Hard Props attended the exhibition on the opening day, and relayed some details from his experience:
- Approximately 230 pieces are on display
- Beautiful displays, with all pieces behind glass and on custom displays with good lighting
- Items from King Kong and The Last Samurai were mostly background weapons (nothing spectacular)
- A room full of Chronicles of Narnia pieces, costumes and props/weapons
- The Lord of the Rings area is the largest section of the exhibit, featuring a vast array of items including full Orc costumes, swords, daggers, axes, maces, and more
- A dedicated display cabinet featuring Hellboy’s Samaritan firearm and belt (the only Hellboy piece on display)
- No photography was allowed
Here is a scan of the brochure:
Thanks to Simon for the information and scans.
