There is a short video segment available online featuring Stephen Lane and The Prop Store of London from “The One Show” on BBC: Consumer: Investing in film props – Dominic Littlewood
Not being familiar with the show or host, I would characterize it as generally “lighthearted” and tongue-in-cheek at times, though clearly very positive and enthusiastic about the pursuit of prop collecting.
Given the tone and length of the piece, I don’t know that “investing” was the best choice of focus by the producers, in that there is much more ground to cover than time allocated in the segment.
As an example, what individuals or companies would meet the qualification of “reputable dealer”?
What “documentation” is good enough to assure authenticity?
Since it appears targeted toward non-hobbyists, I appreciate the efforts to present some good information and considerations in getting started in the hobby.
In any event, I do like to see press coverage of the hobby to bring awareness to the public at large, and give credit to the producers of the show for making some attempts to present the hobby to a new audience.
It is interesting to see video of the vast Prop Store warehouse.
