Fellow original prop collector Mario Kirner (hollywood-at-home.de) sent me a copy of German magazine, MOVIEHOME (moviehome-magazin.de) featuring his media room which doubles as an original prop and wardrobe display area.
Because it is a German publication and would be difficult to obtain in the U.S., I’ve including some scans of the article below. I would recommend picking up the magazine if you can find it – very high quality and impressive (though I am not fluent in German, so I can’t speak to the written content).

There are a number of things I really like about Mario’s display room:
- The most obvious thing is the very clean look – one can’t help but be drawn to the pieces, which are displayed without any unnecessary clutter or additional memorabilia – the pieces are the focus in the room.
- The colors are very subtle and create a mood that works well with the films the pieces are from.
- The space feels very customized, yet there is no “overkill” – just touches here and there to create a unique environment.
- The lighting is wonderful – understated, if anything.
- Each piece has it’s own “space” to occupy – less is more.
- A simple 8×10 publicity shot accompanies the key pieces – most of which are easily recognizable to fans of contemporary film.
- The lighted insets into the wall itself is just brilliant – a fantastic way to really showcase those pieces.
Special thanks to Mario for sending me a copy of the magazine.
